Certificate in Family History Research
I am a Guatemalan genealogical researcher with experience in online and offline repositories. My interest in family history and genealogy began at the age of 12, thanks to my mother, Claudia Lisbeth González Borrayo (R.I.P.), who loved doing family history and keeping photos and family documents.
I began my studies for an Associate’s Degree in Family History at Brigham Young University-Idaho, developing various skills necessary to conduct independent research with clients from the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, and Guatemala interested in their Latin American ancestors in U.S. Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and other countries in the region. Additionally, I hold a degree in International Relations and I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration at Universidad del Istmo Business School.
I have collaborated on genealogical research projects with Ancestry Pro Genealogists as an independent contractor, conducting fieldwork in parishes and archives in Guatemala and El Salvador.
I have experience conducting field work at the General Archive of Central America (AGCA), the Archdiocesan Historical Archive of Guatemala (AHAG), the General Archive of Protocols, the Diocesan Historical Archive of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, parish archives, private archives, and libraries.
Additionally, I have experience using websites such as Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, Geneanet, Billion Graves, Find a Grave, and databases like Roots Magic.
